Keynote Session: Bridging the Gap Between Insur and Tech

Building a successful insurtech business requires balanced expertise between understanding the fundamentals of the insurance business, the transformational power of technology, and identifying the trends shaping the industry.

Insurtech has entered quicksand and is uncertain how it will emerge from it. Furthermore, not all insurtech start-ups are created equal, and we are seeing the consequences of this. Is there a secret sauce for success? Is insurtech a sustainable business? How do you build resiliency? And how insurtech is helping change the insurance industry? These are some of the questions that Hilario will cover during this session.

Hilario himself is a vivid demonstration of bridging the gap between insur and tech. He brings deep insurance business expertise from his time at RSA where he worked in different C-level positions until 2016 when, as CEO for LATAM, he successfully completed the sale of the RSA business in that region to Grupo Sura. This was also the start of his career in the insurtech world, becoming an entrepreneur for supporting the development of startups and helping them bridge the gap between tech and insurance. From venture building to acceleration, and lately connecting the insurtech ecosystem through the creation of the Miami Insurtech Advocates (MIA) Hub, Hilario is a pillar of the insurtech community in Latin America.

Hilario is also board member of NetBrokrs and president of Boxx Insurance USA.

  • NetBrokrs is an International Insurance Broker Network focused on creating new distribution opportunities around digital capabilities. NetBrokrs is also an investor in a curated group of Insurtech startups including WeCover (https://wecover.co) and Clupp (https://clupp.com.mx).
  • BOXX is a leading cyber insurance provider for small & medium businesses (SMBs), individuals, and families. Its US$10M Series A Investment Round was led by Zurich Insurance Group. Tasked with setting up the USA business, including company registrations/licensing in all 50 states, gaining UW capacity from Hartford Steam Boiler for both their SMB and Consumer product in the USA, building the digital platform, in addition to recruiting key talent, and positioning the company and products in the largest insurance market in the world.

This is definitely a session you can’t miss.
